My Teaching Philosophy

I believe music should be accessible to people of all backgrounds, and I strive to reach a wide range of individuals through both my teaching and performing. Learning an instrument can shape who you are, fostering work ethic, confidence, and self-esteem. Music study also builds life skills such as creativity, listening, communication, time management, problem-solving, compassion, and empathy. These skills benefit the whole person and carry over into every area of life and learning.

I love working with students of all ages and levels. If a student is motivated, curious, and loves music, I am excited to teach them!

I draw on both traditional techniques and the Suzuki method, combining Suzuki repertoire and ear-training with supplemental repertoire, etudes, theory, and note-reading activities.

Lessons for Children

I accept students of all levels, ages 4 and up. I ask that students come to each lesson attentive and engaged, and that they are committed to consistent home practice.

Parental involvement is instrumental in a child’s success. I strongly believe in the Suzuki partnership of parent, teacher, and student for each child’s best progress and growth. For this reason, I ask parents to attend lessons so they can support practice at home.

Lessons for Adults

With adult students, I take a flexible approach to repertoire, tailoring materials to match individual interests and goals. My priorities are helping each student find their own beautiful sound, while providing the technical and musical tools needed to play the music they love.
